Get a PC. Macs are good for advanced graphics design (as in, for professional graphics designers using expensive graphics software). Plus, Macs are not good for gaming (no DirectX support whatsoever) (well, maybe Runescape will work…). Windows is much more popular, so more software is available for it. If you’re concerned about viruses and spyware, just get a good antivirus program, and (most importantly) don’t download and install programs that you don’t trust. I’ve never had a virus on my Windows XP PC. Windows is able to display characters in different languages; in XP, you need to enable East Asian support to display Chinese, in Vista, it should work out of the box. And if you get Vista Ultimate, you will be able to change the language of the entire GUI (programs, etc.) as often as you’d like.

I would recamend Windows, you do want office afterall. The viruses aren’t a problem so long as you have the right software and are smart about what you do. Runescape will be fine, in fact a freind had a mac and Runescape was really slow on it. Office can translate-poorly, but you won’t get anything better.

I recommend a Mac. Microsoft Word IS compatible with Mac, they make a special version designed for Mac. There are absolutely NO viruses on a Mac, viruses can only work on Windows. You are able to play games (I have the Sims 2 and Guitar Hero 3 installed on my MacBook Pro.) With Macs, webcams are built in so you don’t need to worry about buying a separate webcam. You can record videos off a Mac through either PhotoBooth or iMovie. iLife (iMovie, iPhoto, iCal, Garage Band, and iDVD) works flawlessly. Also, iChat is directly compatible with AIM. All of these programs come with the Mac. Personally, I do homework all the time on my Mac and use a wireless printer. A Mac is definitely worth it.
