If you are gaming online and not browsing you can shut your AV program off, just remember to reboot or restart it before you use the browser.Keep your firewall on.
From "XP trick Book"
Increase bandwidth by 20%
type gpedit.msc in run box
Local Computer Policy
Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates
Network
QOS Packet Scheduler
Limit Reservable Bandwidth
double click on it and enable it but set it to ZERO PERCENT
When it is disabled it defaults to 20%
The trick is to Enable and set it to 0 and that bandwidth is recovered for your connection.

Go to Network Connections and right click on the adapter/connection you are using choose Properties
Leave QOS on as it has been set to 0
Click Configure
Advanced
Optimize for
choose Throughput
This can help but its risky:

get rid of kaspersky, its crap and takes up too much of your computer resources. use something with a smaller footprint like avira personal edition, its free and works well with a much smaller footprint and doesnt slow you down especially when on-line gaming. it can be found here. http://www.free-av.com
